Nevertheless, there are many items of equipment needed as a world traveler, and most of it, in number and weight, is for our work as a travel blogger. Again, we will write some articles for you dealing with our packing list and travel equipment. After all, we read many articles ourselves and spent months looking at our gear.
The second part of the preparations went much faster. The actual travel planning has been limited to where we will start. As I was weakened by my illness, my favorite means of transportation, the bicycle, unfortunately fell out. Even traveling by foot from Germany was not possible in cold December, although we often thought about it and also reveled in travelogues. So there was only bus and train or a flight left. Even if we would have liked to do without the latter and are a little ashamed of it, we had no better idea.
Although the Trans-Siberian Railway has long been under scrutiny, today I am glad that Jana was so vehement against it. I would not have survived this torture well.
The last official acts were the District Office Karlsruhe and the Thai Consulate in Stuttgart. An international driver’s license is necessary for most countries to drive a scooter or any other vehicle.
The visa for Thailand is useful if your stay exceeds 30 days and we planned to stay at least two months. Again, an extra article will be necessary, because our experience in the consulate was interesting and funny at the same time.
Somewhat more complicated was and still is the health insurance and deregistration from Germany. Above all, I made a tactical mistake, which causes trouble even three months later. I should have unsubscribed immediately and cancel the insurance. But why and how is also a separate story that we would like to explain in an article series coming soon.
